My TCHF
How it works
Every step from sign-up to done, for people who get help at home and for volunteers across Canada, and the checks that keep everyone safe.
How My TCHF works
Pick a side to see each step, from sign-up to done.
Get Help
You, or a family member or friend, ask for help. A verified volunteer comes to the home, and you see it done.
You need an email address and the address of the home.
Get help at homeStep 1
Create your free account
LiveSign up with your email or Google, then choose Get Help.
Step 2
Add a home
LiveAdd your own home, or the home of someone you look after as Family & friends. Several family members can share one home.
Step 3
TCHF approves your home
LiveA TCHF coordinator checks that the home is in a city we serve and approves it. You get an email when it is done.
Step 4
Request help, with photos if you like
LiveSay what needs clearing and how soon. Photos are optional, and we remove location data from every photo file.
Step 5
A verified volunteer is assigned
LiveTCHF matches a verified volunteer: adults have passed an ID check and a Vulnerable Sector Check, and volunteers under 18 are covered by a verified parent or guardian. Often it is someone who has helped you before.
Step 6
See when they are coming
LiveWhen your volunteer is on the way, you get an arrival time by email and in the app. You see an arrival time, never where the volunteer is.
Step 7
See the work, then rate it
LiveLook at the before and after photos, then give a thumbs up or ask for a follow-up.
Volunteer
You get verified once, then help neighbours near you on your own schedule, with every hour recorded.
You need a government photo ID. Under 18? You also need a parent or guardian to give consent.

LiveSign up with your email or Google, then choose Volunteer.
Step 2
Verify your identity
LiveA quick photo of your government ID and a selfie, through Stripe Identity. TCHF never stores your ID images.
Step 3
Police record check
LiveThe app writes your confirmation letter for your police service. Upload the result and TCHF reviews it. Under 18? By law you can’t get one, so a verified guardian gives consent instead.
Step 4
Sign the volunteer agreement
LiveRead and e-sign it in the app. A parent or guardian co-signs for volunteers under 18.
Step 5
Start a shift and pick up jobs
LiveStart a shift when you head out. Your jobs are listed in order, assigned by TCHF near you.
Step 6
Work the job, with photos
LiveTap On my way with an arrival time, take before photos, clear the snow, then take after photos.
Step 7
Collect your hours
LiveEvery shift is timed. Download a signed Hours Letter for school community hours, whenever you need it.
Safety and trust, built in
Volunteers visit people’s homes, so every check happens before anyone is assigned a home.
Read our privacy policyEvery adult volunteer who visits a home passes an ID check through Stripe Identity and a Vulnerable Sector Check reviewed by TCHF, and signs a volunteer agreement.
Volunteers under 18 need consent from a verified parent or guardian, who can pause them at any time.
You see an arrival time, never where the volunteer is. Volunteer location is used only by TCHF staff, for safety and proof of service.
Photos are resized and stripped of location data before they are stored.
Stripe checks ID documents. TCHF never stores images of your ID.
Messages are only between you and TCHF. There is no chat between users.
